- This week, we tentatively agreed to Section 10.R-S, which closes out the operational components for Reassignments and Pre-Cancellations.
- We also presented a comprehensive proposal to management. While the parties are closer together, there is more work to be done.
- Next month we have a mediation session scheduled, as well as an added negotiation session without the mediator.
This week, our Negotiating Committee and Negotiations Strategic Communications Representative met with management for Negotiation Session 21. Because this was an addition to our existing schedule, the mediator assigned by the National Mediation Board (NMB) was not present. *Our Negotiating Committee is supported during this process by AFA International Collective Bargaining and Legal departments.
As mentioned in our Mediation Session 4 update, the mediator directed both parties not to disclose specific details at this stage, which is not uncommon at this point in mediation. However, we can and will share general details of each session.
Management presented Sections 10.R-S: Scheduling and 8.Q: Contactability. We tentatively agreed to Section 10.R-S, which closes out the operational components for Reassignments and Pre-Cancellations. Reassignment pay is still in discussion as part of the overall economic package.
We presented a comprehensive proposal to management. While the parties are closer together, there is more work to be done. Management plans to respond with a comprehensive proposal at our next mediation session.
Last session, we shared the executive summary of our Financial Security Survey. We asked management for a formal response to the survey results. They responded:
“Our commitment is to always provide our flight attendants and employees with wages and benefits that are not only market-competitive but also recognize your contributions and the critical role you have in the company. Your top priorities matter to us, and we are committed to reaching an agreement that ensures you have the opportunity to support yourselves and your loved ones. Our ongoing conversations with your AFA representatives continue to be productive, and we remain focused on closing existing gaps swiftly to reach an improved agreement you can begin working under as soon as possible.”
Next month, we have a mediation session with management and the mediator scheduled for June 18-20. We also scheduled an additional negotiation session without the mediator for June 11-12.
