This week, our Negotiating Committee and Negotiations Strategic Communications Representative met with management and the mediator assigned by the National Mediation Board (NMB). *Our Negotiating Committee is supported throughout the entire process by AFA International Collective Bargaining and Legal departments.
Our Negotiating Committee (NC) and management reached an Agreement in Concept (AIC), marking a significant step toward achieving TA2. The NC will prepare materials, including the finalized text, to present to the Master Executive Council (MEC). The voting members of the MEC (Local Executive Council Presidents) will conduct a thorough review and vote whether to release the agreement for membership ratification.
If approved by the MEC, the AIC will be finalized as TA2. The full, finalized text will be released, along with supporting materials for membership review and ratification vote. Additional communications will be forthcoming.
In solidarity,
AFA Alaska Negotiating Committee

What was gained from the first TA?
Jeffrey Peterson (MEC President/Negotiating Committee Chairperson) says
If the MEC approves TA2 for member ratification, then we’ll release details of how TA2 differs from TA1.

Roughly how long before we see TA2 if it is voted a yes to show us? And once we get it, it’s a 3 week voting window, correct?
Brian Palmer (MEC Vice President) says
If the MEC votes to approve TA2 for member ratification, the document and related informational materials will be made available shortly after their vote. The voting members of the MEC (LEC Presidents) will also set the voting timeline. They will ensure sufficient time for all Members to cast their votes, though the duration may vary at their discretion [AFA Constitution & Bylaws, Section VI.B.5.e, pg 93].
