Q: Management’s opening proposal indicates they want to increase the 4K distance, the 480 requirement, and the duty day! Is the Negotiating Committee considering any of these?
The Negotiating Committee considers these three provisions untouchable and does not plan to entertain management’s proposals to increase any of them. In fact, we proposed to completely eliminate the 480 requirement altogether.

Thank you

Thank You all! If they insist, they can return to FULL VACATION PAY, and not days off with a fraction of our daily earned TFP!
John says
Please stand firm on this!
Carol Singleton says
What would eliminating the 480 look like? Would someone be able to not work at all and still maintain benefits? Please explain.
Jeffrey Peterson (MEC President/Negotiating Committee Chairperson) says
You have that right, Carol. Completely elimination of the 480 would allow someone not to work at all and still maintain benefits.
For historical context, there was no minimum flying requirement from 1994 to 2006 other than there had to be some paid time within each bid month or else one’s vacation accrual was reduced by one-twelfth (1/12th) for the following year. Otherwise, all other benefits were maintained.
Leilani says
Thank you. I fully support leaving those items alone!

Excellent! No Change On These! Don’t budge!
