Q: Is there a limit on an increase in total compensation from the NMB? Does that limit how much more we can realistically ask from management if we were to move on to a TA2?
The National Mediation Board cannot put a ceiling on our compensation or “order” us to accept any position. What they attempt to do is get the parties’ positions into the “Zone of Reasonableness” (their term, not ours). The NMB feels that if management and the union are in the same general compensation range, an agreement is more likely. Nothing limits our ask from management, at some point, there are limits on what we can most likely achieve.
