Q: In regards to the “having to use money from the JCBA merger to increase current pay rates if this TA does not pass” does that imply that whatever money was put aside for current negotiations is null and this TA would be scrapped to complete a JCBA instead?
If the TA passes, it becomes the new “base case” and the platform from which we would negotiate a JCBA. This gives us the opportunity to seek more improvements without such a gigantic “sticker shock” from negotiating improvements from our current “base case” in a JCBA and also including bringing the HA Flight Attendants up to a higher level. Additionally, it would allow us to focus on merger-related issues instead of fighting so hard for pay improvements. To be clear – we will still fight for compensation improvements in any JCBA if the TA ratifies.
