Q: If the Tentative Agreement is not ratified, is the Negotiating Committee going to change or continue for the second TA?
Each Committee Member must decide for themselves whether or not to continue – it is a significant sacrifice of personal time and, quite honestly, one bears the brunt of some fairly offensive criticisms by a minority of the members. Additionally, we also serve at the pleasure of the MEC (LECPs you elected to represent you). The MEC could choose to change the Committee, part of Committee, or the Committee Chairperson. They could do all those things. That is up to the MEC.
If the merger is approved, we will merge MECs within 90 days of approval. That means election of a MECP, MECVP, and MECST. There will be 8 LECPs instead of 6. There will be a lot of changes, and new union leaders who will be making these decisions.
