Q: How does Longevity Pay benefit Flight Attendants? It doesn’t seem adequate for years of flying, and it’s only paid on actual flying.
Most carriers do not have Longevity Pay – we are the only carrier with an increase every 5 years starting at Year 20. This was negotiated as a way to recognize years of service – and there is no cap on the total increase. Some of our current Flight Attendants are up to/above 55 YOS ($8 above their base pay rate).
Only Southwest and Hawaiian have something remotely similar – both with a single, slight increase at year 26. Otherwise, no carrier has an increase once a Flight Attendant reaches the top of the scale (DL, AA, UA, J6, etc.).
