Q: How did the NC determine the TA pay scale, and what percentage did the NC and MEC think was an acceptable increase?
When it comes to the pay scale, we spent a lot of time analyzing SW and DL (inclusive of Boarding Pay), as AA and UA were both still in negotiations.
We fought for our base pay rate to be higher than DL – which we achieved at every step. Our Boarding Pay is somewhat higher than DL’s and we earn sick leave accrual on it.
Although the base pay rates are lower than SW, the inclusion of Boarding Pay puts us comfortably close to, or exceeding, SW pay rates. Depending on the trip a Flight Attendant flies (i.e. number of boardings), their pay can be significantly higher than SW.
