Q: Doesn’t HIPAA protect personal medical information? How can an employee be protected regarding privacy?
HIPAA requires appropriate safeguards around personal medical information. Just like today, the documentation submitted from a Doctor does not need to specify illness/procedure/etc. The verification documentation would only need to corroborate an appointment and/or that the individual was unable to perform their duties.
It’s important to note this verification would only be required when a Flight Attendant is utilizing the State Bank (not the CBA Bank) during a Verification Period for absences of 4 or more consecutive workdays.
