- This week was our third Mediation session with management and the mediator assigned by the National Mediation Board.
- We presented a comprehensive proposal that would significantly elevate pay for Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants and bring us in line with industry standard for RIGs/MPRs.
- We encourage management to come to the table ready to reach a deal soon. We are ready for a contract NOW.
This week, our Negotiating Committee and Negotiations Strategic Communications Representative met with management and the mediator assigned by the National Mediation Board (NMB) for Mediation Session 3. AFA International Director of Collective Bargaining and General Counsel, Joe Burns, joined the Negotiating Committee during the session. *Our Negotiating Committee is supported during this process by AFA International Collective Bargaining and Legal departments.
We presented a comprehensive proposal that would significantly elevate pay for Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants and bring us in line with industry standard for RIGs/MPRs. We have fallen further and further behind the industry for too long and the time has come for a paradigm shift – management MUST address the situation.
Management shared their “shock” and “disappointment” with our proposal. Reality check – the bargaining environment is rapidly changing: TWU 556 Southwest Flight Attendants’ TA2, TWU 577 Allegiant Airlines Flight Attendants’ ratified TA, APFA American Airlines Flight Attendants’ aggressive bargaining schedule, and anticipated pay increases from union-busting management at Delta Airlines.
It is clear to our team – our proposals will only increase as additional airlines reach and ratify new contracts. Our proposals continue positioning us at the top of the industry. The market will only continue to rise as other carriers invest in their Flight Attendants.
We encourage management to come to the table ready to reach a deal soon. Our Flight Attendants have spoken with a unified voice – we voted overwhelmingly to approve a CHAOS™ strike, we shared our financial struggles, and we are ready for a contract NOW.

Thank You! Thank you for hearing us! Advocating and giving management a reality check. Keep going strong! I really like the penalty tfp!
1 tfp does not seem like much but at 7,000+ tfp the company might not be as careless and cavalier with our quality of life via scheduling.
Ingrid Otteson says
YAY!! Making good progress, thanks for all the work and details…it’s SOOO appreciated!!
Especially like the last provision for all the back pay since Dec 17, 2022‼️👍😁
Melissa Claire says
I still think there should be something done about the AS FA’s who gave years of their lives to serving AS in other positions, but weren’t recognized in seniority as a FA, as their VX counterparts were.
James Britt says

Cheryl Holtquist says
Curious, why no increases from year 13-16? Thank you
Brian Palmer (MEC Vice President) says
Under the Negotiating Committee’s proposal, Flight Attendants would now reach the top of the pay scale at year 13. Longevity premium would then kick in starting at year 15.
