Mobilization Committee
- It’s time to turn the heat up on management
- The official AFA pin at Alaska Airlines is now red
- Mark your calendar for August 15 and plan to bid the day off for solidarity events in all bases
Based on the economic proposal they put forward to our Negotiating Committee, it is crystal clear that management is entirely out of touch with the value that Flight Attendants contribute and what it will take to reach an acceptable agreement. The time has come for all of us to send management a message in one loud and strong voice: we deserve better!
To get our message across, our Mobilization Committee has a series of activities planned to help turn up the heat on management and let them know that we all stand with our Negotiating Committee. You can follow along and find out how to participate on the Red Hot Summer page of the Contract 2022 website. Read on for information about our first activity and an important save the date.
Our Official AFA Pin Is Now Red
Yesterday, our Master Executive Council (MEC) unanimously passed a resolution to change the official AFA pin at Alaska Airlines to red. You can find the full text of the resolution by clicking here. The red AFA pin represents our unity and support for our Negotiating Committee’s efforts to secure a fair agreement that recognizes our worth, provides meaningful improvements, and sets a precedent in the industry.
Once you receive your red AFA pin, wear it whenever you fly, attend training, or participate in a company event. This significant action demonstrates our relentless commitment to each other and showcases our solidarity as we stand together to support ongoing negotiations. All Flight Attendants, including those on probation, are entitled to wear the red pin since it is now our official AFA pin at Alaska Airlines.
As a reminder, per uniform policy, only one AFA pin at a time can be worn on your lanyard, one on your uniform, and one on your apron.
Local Council LEC Officers, Committee Members, and Mobilization Volunteers will distribute the pins later this week. Keep an eye out for further communication from your Local Council on how to get a red AFA pin in your base.

Can they put a pin in our file? I was told they were already out in Seattle.
Brian Palmer (MEC Vice President) says
Each of the Local Councils is finalizing their distribution plans for the pins at the moment. Your LEC Officers or Local Mobilization Committee will be communicating more details in the next few days with the specific plan for each base. More to come!
