Q: Has AFA United negotiated a starting pay rate of $40? We want that, too!
No, AFA United has not negotiated a starting rate of $40. While we are committed to improving compensation, we also want to ensure accurate information is disseminated. $40+ start rates have not been proposed in the industry as of today. We understand financial security is important to Flight Attendants. Our goal is to address inflation, the rising cost of living, and tackle the lack of affordability in all of our domiciles.
[Update 12/15/2022:] An alleged AFA United pay rate proposal document is circulating on social media. The AFA Alaska Negotiating Committee has confirmed that pay rate table is not a proposal but rather the current “White Flag” rates (150% incentive rate) in the AFA UAL contract Section 4.B.2.
Kristin Armstrong says
Has our negotiating committee proposed a starting pay rate yet? What is the rate? Thanks.
Jeffrey Peterson (MEC President/Negotiating Committee Chairperson) says
The NC has not yet proposed a starting pay rate. Realistically, the parties will not pass compensation proposals for at least several more sessions.
