Tomorrow will be a defining moment in our careers as Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants. We stand together as we vote to authorize a strike – the first since the historic Alaska CHAOS™ campaign in 1993. We know our worth and the value we bring to Alaska Airlines and demand that our pay and work rules reflect this. We are calling for the right to fly our trips without the constant fear of rescheduling, fair compensation for all hours worked, top-of-the-industry pay, and an improved quality of life. We will not settle for anything less than what we deserve.
We are all aware of the challenges we face at work, such as management disrespect and lack of accountability, COVID-19, passenger rage, and poverty-level compensation for many. However, instead of addressing these issues, management’s proposals during these negotiations have included increasing our duty day, raising the 480 thresholds, and expanding 4K flying. The strike vote is our chance to speak with one voice and make it clear to management that their proposals are not only unacceptable but downright insulting. Our unity is our power, and our time to show it is now!
