Before writing an opening proposal, our Negotiating Committee has an important responsibility to gather feedback from our Flight Attendant group. In an effort to make every voice heard, the Negotiating Committee will be hosting a series of Listening Sessions to hear about what’s important to you during upcoming contract negotiations. Listening Sessions are your opportunity to meet and interact with the members of the Negotiating Committee in a small group setting. You’ll have the chance to share your thoughts, ideas for change and improvement, challenges you’ve experienced under the current contract, or anything else that’s on your mind about negotiations. This is your opportunity to get involved in the process–your voice matters!
All Listening Sessions will be conducted using Zoom videoconferencing. Attendance at each session will be limited to allow the members of the Negotiating Committee as much opportunity as possible to personally interact with each participant. As with all AFA meetings and activities, the AFA mutual respect policy applies at all sessions.

Listening Session FAQs
Will the Listening Sessions be recorded for those who aren’t able to attend?
In order to preserve the integrity of the feedback collected during the Listening Sessions, AFA will neither record nor distribute any part of any session. This includes screenshots, still photos, audio recording, and video recording. Likewise, we ask that participants agree to the same.
Will I need to have my camera turned on during the session?
Yes. In order to facilitate interaction among the Negotiating Committee and other attendees, all participants will need to have their video turned on and remain on camera during the session.
Will I still be able to share my thoughts if I’m not able to attend a Listening Session?
If you’re not able to attend a Listening Session, you’ll still have the opportunity to share your thoughts in the upcoming Negotiations Survey. The survey, currently scheduled to be conducted in June, is another key component used by our Negotiating Committee to determine our bargaining priorities. You can also provide direct feedback to our Negotiating Committee at any time by email or using the online Negotiations Feedback Form.
Can I sign up for more than one session?
Because there’s limited space in each session and we want to ensure that as many Flight Attendants are able to participate as possible, only one session registration per person will be confirmed at this point in time. If space remains available in a given session 24 hours prior to the start time and you’d like to sign up to participate again, you’ll be able to register and confirm into a second session.
